IEEE Open Silicon Initiative

The IEEE Open Silicon Initiative democratizes access to integrated circuit design and fabrication resources. This is a chip prototyping & fabrication program for students to design and build real silicon chips.

Efforts are already underway with several IEEE Societies, including IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS), IEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS), IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CAS), and others.

External partners include Tiny Tapeout, Global Foundries, and Synopsis.

IEEE HART will support this effort via promotion and assistance by combining efforts, talent, and resources.
